Award-winning nonfiction authors Sally M. Walker and Alice McGinty will participate in our main Book Bash event on Friday, April 19th, when they'll visit with students in grades PreK-8 about the mysteries of history captured in their books.

Sally M. Walker

Sally Walker was always bookish. As a child she daydreamed in school about the book she hadn’t finished at home, or about the books she might write when she grew up. In order to get young Sally out of the house to go clothes shopping, her mother had to bribe her with the promise of a new Nancy Drew mystery or Black Stallion adventure.

While she read almost anything, she was especially fond of history and science. She attributes her interest in nonfiction, and storytelling in general, to her father, who recounted fascinating real life tales. Hearing his great stories always left her wanting to know more about the actual characters and events, so she headed to the library and learned how to research interesting topics.
